Most of the cars on here that I have seen have been at the FLDs for the "just for fun" racing. Anyone on here have a class built drag car? If so what class and what is the best time you have ran?

I don't know of anyone on here that has a purpose built drag car. I have a Monte Carlo that I considered building for either super street or stock eliminators, but life had other plans. Hopefully it becomes an option again in the next few years.

Big problem here is there aren't a lot of actual drag cars right now because there isnt a local strip on this end of the state. The closest one to us is prp. Most of the drag cars in the area are just leftovers from the Eldora days.
Here, you have to be a big player, who is willing to travel, or it doesn't make sense to have a track car.

I understand. The local track Sunset in Mercer closed its doors. That would have been a quick trip to a track for me even though it was an 1/8. Now they are all an entire day event. The closer ones are Quaker, PRP and Summit (Norwalk but its a haul). There might be one that is slipping my mind right now.
Yeah. Even just a t&t or the fld is 1/2 commute, 1/4 drivers meetings/prep/etc. And only 1/4 actual event. Most of the fun we have is on the drive up anyway, Lol.

LoL that yellow c6z06 ... poor guy didn't have the driver mod.
i can' only imagine the look on his face when he looked back saw a 1998 trans am, an 03 cobra an 01 vette and an audi TT all up his ass.
all i can say is strano springs + koni shocks make a fbucket handle pretty well.
2001 Corvette - Heads, Cam, Intake, Full exhaust, Hotchkiss Swaybars, z06 brake ducts, SS brake pistons & Lines Etc. Lowered & Murdered out.
2000 Trans AM WS6 - Forged Motor APS Twin Turbo Kit. Full Suspension & C5 brakes.... in pieces currently
1998 Trans AM STS Turbo
1997 Jeep Cherokee - when you just gotta go places other things won't take you.

I would have before I went all straight line with the cobra. Some times I miss the crazy back road action. I remember running up the river in Parker. With the KB on full song the rear end would dance around every time I went over one of the marks on the road where they resealed the cracks. That's back when the car was IRS, FTBR bushings and the CCW 18 inchers with toyo R888s at all corners. The D-spec shocks and struts didn't even help so I got bored and changed to a straight line setup.
so you did try driving once atleast.??? how could you go back to straight line boredom with an automagic.
Speedracer.. if levi had the money for suspension he'd put a motor in the car they will end up costing about the same. strano/koni setup is a grand plus swaybars and a few other goodies put you close the 2K mark.

Every LS nutswinger sings songs about how the LS can be had for $500 at any junkyard. Where does the extra 1500 come from?

Good question. They change their song and dance as they see fit... I bet its all the beer it takes to do the swap.

..... it's went up to $6-700 due to obamainflation bullshit.
levi could get away with shocks/springs for now. that's what i was talking about but as for full suspension such as my trans am has that's what it would take.

I hung fairly well, considering I just have worn out stock shocks and lowering springs. That's on the to-do list down the line though.
I've already come across a couple sub-100k mile LQ motors between $500 and $1000. I've seen quite a few others in the same range with over 100k. I'm not too worried about the mileage, as long as it's sound. Finding them in that range isn't the issue (they seem to bring a premium here though). Problem is I don't have the disposable income to pick one up right now, whether it's a good deal or not.
When the time comes, I'm probably going to go to some fleet auctions and see if I can pick up a wrecked van. I'll part out what's usable, that I'm not using, then scrap the rest. Going that route, hopefully I can recoup most of the cost.
Right now though, I'm playing grown-up and giving food, shelter, daily transportation and the ever-growing expense of having a child priority over the toys.
