Default 2014 Penn Dutch Rally 6/1/14

Some of my friends from RNA are holding a benefit rally to help raise funds for the Accelerated Cure project for Multiple Sclerosis. It's a 1 day event and only has a $15 entry fee. Not bad! Copied from their FB page:

The 2014 Penn Dutch Rally is on Sunday, June 1st from 9am until 3pm.

This year's rally will raise monies for the Accelerated Cure project for Multiple Sclerosis, the official charity of the 5th annual Rally North America, "Rally US 50" - West Virginia to Colorado" in July.
    www.rallynorthamerica.com

The start time is 9am sharp at the US Army Heritage Center in Carlisle PA where maps and clues will be handed out.

Rally Teams wll get a sadistic little map and set of clues that will take you on a scavanger hunt thru the back roads of Cumberland, PA and Washington, MD counties.

Teams earn points for finding locations described on the clue sheet, and may earn additional bonus points for finding, or doing, something from a "Challenge Sheet".

Be careful though. If you come in after your 6 hours are up, your team will lose points.

The Rally will conclude at 3pm when points will be tallied and awards will be given to 1st/2nd/3rd places, and a "hard Luck" Award given at the Organizer's discretion.

Teams will be responsible for their own transportation, behavior and safety. We'll provide laughs a plenty.

The cost of the rally is $15.00 per team.

Teams will have the option to purchase the ever popular "mulligan for $10 (2 per car limit). A Mulligan is an "express pass" that allows you to skip a challenge.

Teams may pay their rally participation fees, mulligans and bribes at http://acceleratedcure.donorpages.co...13/TeamStangy/

Teams can also pay at the event on June 1st.

For the rally competition teams, the Organizer can be bribed for clues prior to the Rally by making a $25 donation to Team Stangy.

    Please RSVP

I look forward to seeing you at the Rally!

    Sincerely,
    Mike

Garrett County is basically the bastard child of Md. anyway. It's almost completely surrounded by WV and PA it is isolated from most of the People's Republic BS.

Bump for this Sunday. It's going to start and finish in Carlisle. The majority of the rally will be in Cumberland Co. and Adams Co. Pa and Washington Co. Md. It'll start at 9:00am and finish up around 3:00pm. It's $15 to enter. If you want a mulligan, which allows you to skip a challenge, they are $10 (you can purchase up to 2). You also have the option to bribe the organizer for clues before or during the event. That is another $25 donation to The Accelerated Cure Project for MS, which is where all of the money raised from this rally will be going.

To enter, you go to http://acceleratedcure.donorpages.co...013/TeamStangy/
There is a blue Donate button in the top right corner. You can click it, and make the donation for the entry and if you want mulligans/bribes. You can also pay at the event. The event starts at 9am sharp at the US ARMY Heritage Center in Carlisle.

Well. Good news is I did win an award. Bad news was it wasn't exactly the one I was shooting for.

For some reason, unbeknownst to me, I missed a couple things that were needed at Gettysburg. Instead of skipping them and moving on, I decided we would have plenty of time to back around and get them. Incase you haven't been to Gettysburg battlefield, it is all one big one-way loop. If you want to go back to something, you start over.

So I go back around, and first thing, I get stuck behind an equestrian team. Couldn't get around them, so lap two took a buttload of time.

We finally got that done and took off toward the antietam battlefield. About 1/2 way there I got stuck behind a huge harvester that took up both lanes and didn't go over 10mph for about 15 miles. By the time we fInally got into town it was after 2:30 We had to be back in Carlisle by 3 or we started losing a point a minute.

Well, Antietam Battlefield is 1.5 hours from Carlisle, lol. I just grabbed the check points that were right by the road and hauled ass back to the finish. I made the 1 1/2 drive in around 50 minutes.

Even after all the time penalties and missed checkpoints, we were only like 35 points off 3rd place. Since we were the last team back, we won the "turtle award" lmfao!

hmmm. I don't remember seeing an EVO in it. I guess I could have missed some of the cars though. If they were out your direction after 7am or before 6ish, they were pretty lost though, lol.

You'll have to look at my facebook. You'd be proud. I got about 20 yankee kids to sing Dixie with me. Hahaha!!!

Hmmm. Possible then. I can't think of who would have had an evo though. I know most of the teams who were there. I'll have to investigate.
