Sorry that thing is not going back into my car. The new engine will spit that thing out in a chewed up mess with me driving it.

Speaking of that... I almost got the engine out. What a project working on it a few hours here and there. The cobra sure looks sad sitting there in pieces.

During the last run at the track rental I blew coolant all over the track chasing a time slip. Pulled out the plugs and #7 was wet. I can't say that engine had an easy life but it was treated well. Went straight to the dealership to a ported blower 475rwhp. Then to a 2.2 Kenne Bell (600rwhp) and now turbo. It never saw stock HP levels. lol

Those two spots on the track plus the guy in the other lane messing with me killed my launch but I was pulling him in hard. lol

Yep it blew a head gasket. My wife was sitting next to a guy that thought the car was on fire. Needless to say she was all upset by the time I walked back to get the truck and trailer. Left the car sitting in a field where they pulled it to.

I was thinking he did a lot more than that, lol. I think the head gaskets were some of the only things that survived mine's death.

hard to do in a 4.6 i would believe. wide motor, and not a lot of room... it's a royal PITA just to get the headers unbolted without moving the motor up a little.

^^^definately sux man...insane video though...one good thing about older gen cars and repairs lol just pop the hood and pull what u need out...atleast i would think its the same for fox bodys and older

well since you are pulling motor why not throw some bigger parts on while its out

or at minimum, pretty it up a bit and the engine bay

^ We will see. Pulling the engine hasn't been that bad by myself. Just needed to pick up a few things to make life easier. Like 12ton jack stands, I didn't have anything to hold the car up high enough to allow the engine to roll out from under the car. These bad boys should do it, I think they extend to 30 inches or so.

That's the boat I'm in too right now. It wouldn't be bad at all to drop the k-member when I get the front end up high enough to slide it out

we have taken way too much shit out the top to drop the damn k-member now.

you do need to get some money to throw at that damn project though, a light weight k-member and control arms would do great things. heck just the K-member which is cheaper than the control arms.

I will make a post with ideas and steps that I took to drop the engine. Even a list of items needed. (ex Engine hoist, carts to drop the k member and engine onto, what size jack stands) Should make life easier for anyone needing to do this no matter what the car is. I have a few trips to harbor freight under my belt.

I cant make up my mind if I want to lower the car on to the carts (supported with jack stands and then unbolt the k-member and lift the body up or have the car up in the air and use the hoist to hold the engine while I unbolt the k-member and then lower it down onto the carts with the hoist. One way has to be easier then the other.

Not sure which way is easier, but I've heard of it being done both ways

As for mine, I'm really just thinking about putting the necessary shit in there to get it running, and just use it as the cruiser. Then upgrade the suspension down the road. I have two other vehicles that I think would be more fun to go wild with.

IMO you go solid with the trans am high 11 second car that can take turns too. you go stupid fast straight line with the olds, and you just make the TBSS a solid daily/tow rig. slightly lower with better springs, better brakes and 75-100 more HP. maybe upgrade the swaybars.
