Being a 94, there should be a brown wire with a single connector under the power distribution block under the hood or under the glove box (you have to pull the inner tray) unplug that brown wire and set the timing at 0* tdc. That is the factory base timing. Make sure your timing is in spec before changing any parts.

When I unplug that connector the truck runs great. No bad idle or jumpy rpms.
They didn't want to mess with it because they didn't think the timing was out. I guess I'll just go back up there and tell them to check it anyway.

Got my throttle body off finally. Cleaned it up and all the vaccuum line passages cleaned out. Going to pick up the fuel injector/tbi rebuild kit tomarrow. It has all the gaskets, O-rings, filters and spacers in it.

It looked like the fuel pressure reg. might've been leaking a little, so I hope this fixes my shakey idle if not, I think I'm going to live with it. LOL

Got the rebuild kit, rebuilt it and put it back on. Started it up with no problem, but the shake and rough idle is STILL there!

Finally got to checking the timing.....

Its supposed to be set at 0* with the auto advance wire unpluged. Mine was set at 21*!

So I set it back to 0 and pluged the wire back in and drove around.

Its like i have a brand new truck! No more shaking, jumpy rpm or anything. Got my power back and no ticking anf pinging when its under load.

    Thanks guys, about time huh?
I have a couple more things to do under the hood... fix the cracked radiator, replace the temp gauge sensor, and change the fuel filter.
Then its on to the suspension and appearance.

    Haven't updated in a while....

Got the radiator, temp gauge sensor and fuel filter changed. And drove it a couple times.
I like driving it, a lot different then my car but hopefully once I get to work on the suspension I can get it a little tighter and less wondering

Yeah, me too!!! But I don't like to put gas in it.

Bad thing is that it losing coolant somewhere though. I dont see any wet spots on the ground or on the motor itself so im leaning towards burning it off.
Guess after winter, I'll be doing headgaskets.

Anything else to change or upgrade while i have the top end apart?

If you aren't doing a cam or anything else, I'd just get new head gaskets and head bolts, and call it a day. You may want to look at the water pump and its gaskets as well. That's a pretty common culprit too. If you smell t through the vents, could be a heater core, but I would think tou would see signs if it were that. I dunno. Those are just things to think about if it's not the head gasket

Been driving it a little bit here and there. There is no coolant leak, it was just getting the air out from when I changed the radiator.
Definatly need to get the suspension done. I want to do a 3/4 drop when I replace the frontend suspension. So that's my next plan. And fixing the rockers and cab corners the right way.
