Default Dipping into the 11's with the SHO

I'm bored on midnight shift at work so I figured I would start a build thread for on my 2013 SHO this winter.

Hopefully with traction and the car cooperating I will be able to get into the 11's with the new modifications below.

Currently I have a Livernois "Stage 4+" tune, Corsa exhaust, and an AIRAID intake (which is basically just for visual fluff) and I have gone a best ET 12.7 @ 108 and had a best MPH of 110 a few times. I had the car dynoed at Early Performance and it made 397/384. The TQ is right on for the mods but the HP seemed high. I had a revised tune and judging by other cars that dynoed that day and were on par I believed it. After going to the track it was confirmed that the car definitely was not making 397. More like the typical 350 these car's make with similar mods. The revised tune showed to make negligible power differences.

Sometime this winter when I am able to get time off work and schedule tuning at Livernois Motorsports I will be installing a set of upgraded turbos along with supporting modifications. The turbos are stock Garrett GT-15's with upgraded billet 48mm GTX compressor wheels and Turbosmart wastegates. Bolting these turbos up without changing boost is worth 30-50 HP due to the improved compressor wheel design. Supporting modifications will be PPE 2.5" catted downpipes and Livernois/Alkycontrol water/methanol injection system. I plan getting tuned with a 50/50 mix and depending on what my fueling situation looks like I will stick with that or go with an additional tune for a 100% methanol mix for track use. Since above a 50% concentration methanol can be an additional fuel source there is a significant power potential versus a typical 50/50 for safety and to reduce temperature. There currently is no aftermarket support for the direct injection system so it is becoming common to look towards methanol for addition fuel or one individual has setup an auxiliary fuel system with injectors tapped into the intake to spray E85 under WOT. I won't be going to that extent since this is my daily driver.

I should be somewhere around 450 whp 520 wtq with this setup. Currently this same setup minus the turbos is getting guys around a 12.2 @ 115. Adding the compressor wheel upgraded turbos should be the ticket right into the 11's. I could have went with ATP's turbos with a ported factory intake side and a new exhaust section that has proven capable of making 600 whp on the 3.5 Ecoboost, but I have yet to see track times coinciding with the power. At that level it's proven a challenge putting the power to the ground with an AWD system and ECU that likes to shut down and go into limp mode when it senses too much torque. There is currently one guy trying to make it happen in a Flex. I donít really have any interest in going that far anyway. At most with the level of power I plan on Iíll have to go with a set of drag radials in the front to control wheel spin. Too much front wheel spin and the AWD system turns off.

Anyways, turbos arrived this week so here's a picture. I'll update when I get more parts in and start installing!

How well does the transmission/transfer case handle the additional power?

Surprising well. I haven't read of any drivetrain failures yet. There was a thread on one of the forums a while back asking how long everyone has been tuned. There are a handful of guys that have been tuned with meth making ~430-450 wtq since tuning became available for this platform that now have 50-80k miles and no issues.

Sounds awesome man! Some day I may venture that far into modding on mine, but for now I'm content with the K&N and axleback. I've got my SC I'm focusing on instead.

You wouldn't be interested in a set of wheels and tires would you? I have a set of TSW Nurburgrings with TPMS and a brand new set of Eagle F1 supercars I want to get rid of.

I like the direction and the goal. IMO 50/50 mix on stock boost is useless with your new upgraded turbo's...unless your turning up the boost. But your tuner will decide lol

I won't be running stock boost. I was just using that as an example of how much better they flow on a stock boost level. I'll be running around 9 over stock, ~16-17 psi.

I actually just sold the tires and TPMS. I have just the wheels left for $600.

Do the wheels have any tires on them at all? Any interest in a set of stock 19's?

How soon are you looking to unload them? I would be good with $600 and would come pick them up, but kinda got a lot going on right now.

    UPDATE:

Downpipes are ordered and I decided to go with a custom set of IC hot pipes so I wouldn't have to worry about any boost leaks. Going to do away with the factory electric blow off valves and run a Turbosmart atmospheric valve.

Still waiting to order my methanol kit. Alkycontrol is working on an SHO specific kit so I think in going to wait on that and save having to make custom brackets and use a universal jug. Hopefully they will have something available in the next few months.

Atleast now I will have everything in a few weeks to go ahead and install the turbos!

Awesome, I wouldn't be surprised if they debut a kit at SEMA. Glad things are coming together.

Ended up going ahead and ordering the methanol kit before they came out with a more specific one. A week later and many changes and modifications to the install I have it almost 100% hidden. Methanol uses the factory washer tank, created a new tank to fit beside it to be the washer tank and it uses a small remote fill reservoir. I made a bracket for it to neatly mount in the engine compartment. You can see the nozzle in the bottom of the intake pipe if you look close but that's it.

Downpipes didn't come until Friday so I still have those and the turbos to install but everything else is on.

Custom PPE intercooler pipes and switched over to a VTA Turbosmart BOV.

Here are a few misc. install pictures...

You going 50/50 or 100% meth? I know you drive your a lot so 50/50 might be your best bet so you can still spray your window without messing with the window seals.

I have separate tanks. Since the factory tank is larger it feeds the meth pump. The additional "tank" I made holds about 2 quarts and serves for washer fluid.

I will probably end up running something between 50-75% mix so it can serve as some additional fuel. I don't plan on having the car tuned to the limits so there shouldn't be a need for 100%.
