Nope, they got shut down before but since they don't take any money from the FAA they can race...

Nope....Greene Co. actuallly bought the airport away from the FAA just so they can have these events. They make too much money off of them to let the FAA tell them what to do. It was shut down once but now they can do whatever they want there. They have even repaved and bought a brush adapter to sweep the runway for the racers.

Makes me proud of my quiet little college town. More small communities should stand up to the FAA.

That airport was a staple of the community there. From what I have gathered it wasn't just flash light drags, it was a fair ground, car shows, and everything else that he community needed.

Alot of stuff went on there. They did some college functions and that type of thing. They do have the Greene Co fairgrounds that they had their fairs and truck pulls and stuff at too.

Somerset airport has a car show every fathers day, I wish they would get with the program and do a FLD.

    I'd like to go but...

How much is it to race? Spectate?
Would it be ok to bring my kids? (They are gonna be 4 and 6 in a couple months)
Can they race with me? They will probably NOT stand with someone else to watch me.

At PRP you can ride with someone as long as you run over a 14.0. The first time I went to the track in my old car I saw the guy in front of me take a passenger so the next run I told my brother-in-law to jump in. Well they let me run but I got bitched at when I picked up my slip. I told the guy other poeple were doing it and he said yea but they werent running in the 12's. lol

I am guessing they wont let kids in the car though.

You are allowed to have a passenger on the parade lap only.

If anything, just come watch during the first one. Bring some bag chairs and hang out with the group (we usually have 1 or 2 pop up tents). Let them get to know us and maybe next time they'll be willing to hang out at the tent while you go run. There's usually always a few of us around, so it's not like they'd be left alone.

If I make it, I'll probably be spectating too. I'm not sure yet. I haven't had time to find the vibration in my car yet.
