Default May be buying an Aprilia

    Yep,

I'm looking at maybe going dual sport and selling my M109R. Not for sure yet, I'm looking at some bikes and have thrown out some offers. I'd really like to get a 450 class dual sport super moto. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yep, the 109 has been my companion to the Florida keys and the iron butt 1000. I have taken good care of it but I'll be selling if I buy the dual sport.

I am in good with the guys at the Aprilia shop in McHenry Maryland (Deep Creek area). I should be able to get you a little better deal. If your looking at 450's I know they have some INSANE cheap prices on some brand New 2007 Aprilia leftovers.... SXV, motard.

Wicked bikes, but I would rather have the extra power of the 550.... They are a blast on sidewalks, hump in the road can become jumps. Steps are fun as well... :D

Actually, that is where I'm shopping. I threw them some numbers, the ball is in their court.

I kinda don't care either way right now after reading the Aprilia horror stories. Aprilia bikes seam to be troublesome and not very dependable.

the 06/07 were... the had a HUGE batch of bad case sealant... the New 07s they are selling now have the newer 08+ engines or resealed from day one.

that cured 95% of the issues. Most fun I have ever had on 2 wheels.

ditto.. I was looking into a supermoto to play around with and wanted an Aprilia untill I heard about the horror stories about them and the long wait to get them fixed. That was a few years ago, It was a spur of the moment idea and I haven't check on them in a while.

My 08 has been 100 times the machine my 07 was... even when my 07 seals blew... I was only without it for about 2 weeks. Got a brand new complete engine... Free.. All I paid for was the oil and coolant.

That is the problem I've heard about, the seals. Sounds like they get oil in the coolant right off the bat.

Talking to the dealer now, looks like the 450 was not affected by the crank sealing issue.

I should be picking up the new Aprilia next week.

The 109 is on the market. If anybody wants a kick-ass muscle cruiser, give me a yell. I'll post pics when I get it waxed up. I've never had it to the track but it is supposed to be a 11 sec bike and it's totally stock with not even a scratch.

Wow kenny you've logged some miles on that 109 for sure. you going on those monster runs in on the aprilia ? looks like it'd be harder on the rider.

Congrats on the purchase! post it in the for sale or bull playz section!

Still working on buying the Aprilia. So far, deepcreekarcticcat isn't really doing the best job of selling a bike. I took off Friday to go get it and when I called to double check everything, found the bike would not be assembled because they were shipping out 4 and had to get them ready. It does suck but, I am going to try again this week. Hopefully, it all works better this time. I'm ok waiting as long as it works out. The salesman I have been talking to has been very helpful with the exception of returning my emails and sending a quote without me calling back 3 times. Go figure...

No long trips for the Aprilia, that just isn't what it's built for. The 109 however is the greatest long trip bike I have ever been on. The farther you go, the smoother it gets.

A riding buddy just bought a 550 from them and had it shipped to Florida.....they're a great place to do business from what I've heard.

I haven't heard great things about the Aprilia motards though....you've read about them so you know. Finicky, long maintenance procedures and short intervals...etc.

I fell in love with them when I was looking at 'tards but I just couldn't stomach the normal wrenching not to mention the horror stories of other things about them. So I went with the slightly less finicky KTM, it's a pig in comparison but still more fun than my 750 was.

Yep, sounds like maintenace on the Aprilia is a bitch but the weight and power are there. I'm looking at some different models since deep creek is being so slow. I just hope I don't find a DRz400SM before they get me an Aprilia ready. The Suzuki was the bike that got me looking to start with.

You could keep and mod the 109 a little.

Modding the 109 will not reduce the weight of it enough to be a dual sport. I'm looking for a 280-300lb bike for off-road.
