Been trying out the bike and not happy with the cold start map. I've been studying more and finally figured out how to access the startup maps. I've been writing a new map all evening just for startup. I'll download and see how it goes tomorrow. I'm starting to like working on my bike in the living room while it is outside in the shed.

    Update:

Bike has 130 miles today and already developed an oil leak. Doesn't look bad but it is leaking slightly.

Also, rear turn signal stem broke today I guess by my foot hit it while getting off the bike. They break just as easy as I read online.

Gas mileage is horrid so far at 32mpg. (My 109 gets 38 around town.)

I'll update more after I get more miles logged.

The only plus side so far is power, handling, and weight.
The negative aspects keep adding up. I'm gonna keep a positive outlook and add up some more miles. I hope this thread finds someone looking to buy one someday

It's fast for sure (for a small bike) and handles great. Of course power is relevant, it is down on power compared to what I'm used to. No big deal though, I'm gonna throw everything at it and see how it does. It will be time for an oil change soon. I just hope the oil looks good. It looks clear in the site glass.
From the reviews I've read, mine is running excellent compared to some others. I've actually read od a fella burning up 2 starters because his was so hard to start. That would suck.

Update again, with all the bad there had to be a dood - right?

I left work early yesterday and ran some single lane black top (backrods) home. I fell in love! This bike has the powerband of a 2 stroke. It starts making serious cash at about 5500rpms and keeps pulling to about 10-11ish. I was burning 80mph on 20mph roads and loving it! The brakes are the best of any bike, the handling is the best as well. I'll be doing more of this when I get time.

Ordered new tuning software a few days ago from KWest. They are now only the second company in the world to produce software and cords for the XV models. Good news is now I can tune as many XVs as I want without having to buy additional tune keys. The support is better and the maps I need are actually available without me making them myself. I'm looking forward to spending more time with this bike. It has tons more potential to unlock. I'm looking particularly at this point to lean it out below 5k rpms. I'm tired of smelling like gas when I get to work plus tired of the 32mpg 450.

Kool! it sucks when there isn't a ton of aftermarket support for things... you seem to pick vehicles like that though.. ooh the cost of exclusivity lol

32mpg??? Thats better than I'm getting. And it gets worse on the track. You must be babying yours.

Sight glass??? Sight tube. The oil gets dirty fast in these, thats why you change it about every 800 miles. I do it about 500-800 depending on how I have been riding it. The starter issues were on the 06/07's. The 08+ have a redesigned gear drive for the starter. I went through 5 starters on my 07. First one did not last the first day of riding. my 08 is still starting great on the OEM starter.

Should had just had Extreme de restrict the bike and you could had been enjoying it a lot more and working on it a lot less. Not to mention the money you could had saved with these tuning softwares and time you have wasted with all your "research"

Most guys get 40 out of the 550s properly tuned. You cannot get 40mpg or max hp from a base tune. Oh and yes, 32mpg is babying it and riding easy as possible. I would assume it gets down to low 20s when I backroad/offroad. I just don't like the rich feel.

Yes, it is a tube, you got me there and I kinda like that feature. Starters are really no big deal when these bikes are tuned correctly and have the gear upgrade.

I've done more offroading than on so far. I love the bike and can't wait to see what it can do after some more hours tuning. I'll probably save 2 tunes since I have a dual tune map uploaded.

Why are you selling yours? Good titled bikes are getting pretty rare. Some states are recalling the "parts bikes" because they were sold illegally.

Just how much have I spent so far? Extreme wanted the full derestriction price just to upload a tune. I'm sorry but $275 + my travel time/money just to upload a tune is not going to happen. I can upload the same identical "base tune" as Allen once I get the KWest software. As a matter of fact, the tune I'm going to upload is the same tune number as his on AXONE(ask me how I know). Without the possibility of closed loop, these bikes require lots of tuning time and modifcation to run correctly. BTW, Allen is the best of the best in the Eastern US. Many have taken their bikes elsewhere and then couldn't even get them started. It is easy to upload the wrong tune without lots of research or training.
