I know it's best I stay off of bikes... I love speed too much and wasn't given the talent to ride them at the level I'd enjoy.

This bike is a nice compromise. Top speed is around 115 so not too fast. It's mostly a backroads fun bike. I rode it around 20 miles yesterday on dirt roads and some single lane pavement. I haven't had it on the 2 lane yet since I am waiting on the title so I can get tags.
Even if it were legal right now, the restrictions on the engine would keep me off most roads. These bikes are sick in restricted form. Basically, I have a bike that idles at 2 grand and won't rev past 6 grand. I gotta get it back for derestriction cause at this point, my YZ250 would eat this bike for breakfast.

AMEN to that one, and Mr. Murphy finding me usually happens. I was working on a 750. nighthawk, promised myself, no fast riding on a bike. test drove it. and some asshat in a camaro with a 383 stroker pulls out in front of me puts the car sideways across both lanes... I got stopped. turned around and chased him down.... on the way home i realized ... this is gonna turn bad soon... and put a for sale sign on the bike.

kenny how do they "derestrict it"

These bikes have a throttle stop - see pics, exhaust restricters and custom mapping to be done by 6,000 rpms. I already removed the throttle stop and I'll remove the exhaust restricters and then take it back for the new map. I think peak hp is at 12k if I remember correctly. It should make close to 60 at the tire - not bad for a 270lb bike.
With the restricted programming, it looses all timing and starts cutting fuel right after 5,000 rpms. It sucks, sick as a damn moped.

    Awesome!

I had mine out for a few miles yesterday, it was nice being back on the road....even though most of my ride consisted of gravel and dirt roads!

No one yet....The only place close that tunes KTM's is AOMC down in Cross Lanes but I don't know if they can do SMC's. I'll probably be hitting them up for some new tires here real soon....probably go with the Avon Distanzia's because those Pirelli's don't cut it very well off-road.

I think I'm gonna order the tuneboy cord and do it myself.

Ordered the Tuneboy cord/software yesterday, just gotta wait on it all to get here from Australia. Basically, I bought a tunekey for my bike/computer. I can tune my bike as many times as I want. I can change intake, exhaust, tune experiment, or anything else I want. If I do another Aprilia xv series, I would have to buy another key. Pretty cool stuff, can't wait to get my ecm derestricted and get everything synced.

Can you tell I don't like relying on somebody else for my bikes? It'll take some time but I'll be able to make this thing sing and dance in my own garage. This ecm also has the ability of dual tuning just by converting the on/off switch to a different pin on the ecm. You can run a trail/street or race tune all on the stock ecm.

Sucks though, everything needed for tuning has to be imported from BFE.

I got the tuneboy cable and software a couple days ago but hadn't had time to mess with it until this evening.

It is very crappy software to work with so far. I had a horrible time with their disc and finally just downloaded it all from their website. Next, I had trouble with the drivers for the cable. It took forever to get the drivers from the appropriate file to be recognized. I finally made progress and got connected. With this system, you have to retrieve the ECM Serial # and email it back to tuneboy to activate a key for this particular bike. Once they send the key back, I'll be ready to go. First step is to download the appropriate tune, then calibrate the throttle bodies and TPS. After all that, the damn thing should be ready for some seat time.

I wish Suzuki would have made a bike this cool so I could just ride it...UGH. Then again, maybe I need my pocket IT guy...where are you Roger???

Got the key, worked on it the rest of the evening/night and am starting to really dislike Aprilia and their ingenious "restricted" bikes. I have accomplished almost nothing other than getting the tune uploaded. Now I'm having trouble with the bike and PC connecting.
I've read the battery voltage could be the issue so I'm going to charge tonight and try again tomorrow. I still need to calibrate the TPS and reset the idling all over again.
This bike better be worth the trouble!
