Not Happy with Pickup City in Fairmont

I recently bought a 96 S10 with some tranny issues for cheap and just to get it on the road I didnt really want to dump $1200 in a tranny rebuild so I thought I would check out some local used auto places and called pickup city and they had onne "out of 96 Blazer with 100,000 miles on it for $300" however this was not listed on their website the only thing they had was 173,000 mile tranny. So I looked around a little more and weighed my options and decided I would buy the one from Pickup City and I called to tell them I wanted it and I ask if they could verify the milage for me and again "100,000 miles" so I told them I would take and I went out and picked it up brought it home and looked at the stock number on the reciept and it was the same stock as the 173,000 mile transmission listed on thier site. Thinking that it could have been a mistake on the site I ran the VIN through AutoCheck and sure enough it was 173,034. I called them and told them that I was upset and they offered to let me return it but that still does not change the fact that I was lied to twice about the milage on this item.

Sounds like an honest mistake. At least they're taking it back. I bought some dodge transmission parts from them before and they were very reasonable to deal with.

It could have been a mistake and I would have been OK with that if I wasn't told on 2 seperate occasions that it was 100,000 mile transmission. However; even at 173,000 miles it was still a decent deal for $300 just not as good of a deal if it had 100,000 miles.

That's what they use on thier site. When you search for parts at pickupcity.com it just uses car-part.com filtered by only thier store

Pick Up City's inventory on the website is always up to date... its all ran by the car-parts interchange. And good luck finding anything good, or worth your time at a U Pull It...

I like Pickup City OK for one reason: I bought a 2006 2.0 Duratec Focus engine with 68 miles on it for $500.
In general they're a bit overprice, but not this time.
The engine has been in my car for a couple thousand miles now with zero problems.

I have bought a few things from Pick-up city with good results. Also the body shop I used to work at, we bought a lot of stuff from them there as well and it was always a pleasant experience.

I'm not saying it was or wasnt a mistake in this case...who knows but sounds fishy.
On a related note, I find it funny that almost every engine/tranny/ect you see for sale only has 30K miles on it. haha
