Alright, Progress continues: old 3 spd th350 trans is out, sitting on an ancient trans jack and the new Built 4 spd is in front showing the th350 what's up. It's going in the car tonight. Then new shifter is installed and in the park position in the first pic and in the 2nd pic it's in neutral. And lastly is a quicky shot of my new tires this is the left front.
I'll keep on with the work and it will be hitting the streets real soon, Perhaps this weekend.

Nice build you got going on, I always liked those style regals and cutlass. I owned a 1983 cutlass supreme, and put a 454 down in it. I had two years of a lot of fun. But that was when I couldn't afford to keep breaking parts all the time. It also had a built turbo 350 trans with B&M shift kit. Just couldn't keep rear-ends in the thing. I think I might of broken 4 in two year period. Ended up saling the car. Wish I would of held on to it.

^ Thanks for checking the thread out! I surprised you weren't breaking the B&M kitted TH350 before the rear axle was giving up. Th350's behind my little V6 didn't stand a chance but the rear axle is holding up well for a 7.5 at this time. You will get the Gbody bug again if you had them once before, it happens.

Default It's got 4 forward now!

I've had the trans installed for awhile and just getting around to update. I still have a couple items to finalize (TC lockup, brakes, install a puller fan on my trans cooler) I do really really like this EA stage 2 200-4r with the PTC converter and I've only done a few tests and put less than 50 miles on it so far. It makes me think the car actually has 100 more ft-lbs of torque and HP that was lost just slipping away with the old th350/converter(least it feels that way to me). I have to go back over the brakes and reset the Prop valve but I was able to produce 2# of boost on the foot brake before the tires lost their grip and spun and I could never get the car to do that before. This trans shifts instantly at WOT, 1-3 gears are quick just like bam bam bam I love it, I filled it up with synthetic DexVI. I'll be taking it to the track before long(I went to the track on my Birthday June 2nd and I wished I had brought it there even though it's not ready) But I have to get the TC lockup under control, I do not use a computer and there is nothing hooked up to the trans electrical connector at this time (hell I don't even have a connector that fits the trans) so I'll be looking for one. On my last few test runs I opened the dump and noticed a reduction in spool time and pulls hard, I think this PT53 turbo spools pretty damn quick for a .69 trim exh wheel on my combo @ 20# boost, 93 pump gas, 18* timing and it's not fully optimized yet.
The trans pan is now the lowest part of my car it's got the down pipe beat which used to be the lowest part by 1cm

If everything goes horribly right 10.9*@ 121-2ish, doubtful everything could be perfect enough to produce it, I know it can't go any slower than it's best of 18.22@77.29 in 1/4 or 11.91@62 in the 1/8 with 2.41 gears outback. That was Oct-7th 2006 @ PRP, stock drawthru no tune. So to be realistic from 11.6 @ 118 to 12.6 @ 110. But know knows it might run 16.3 @ 89 smoking the tires through the 1/8 mile lights or blow up @ the 60ft mark. Everyone will find out soon enough when it makes the trip to a track.

Low 12s high 11s is cooking, I love the car perfect sleeper. I weighed mine today 3680 with big block and th400 so your probably at 3200-3300. Will need 350 to 400 rwhp, you should be putting that and then some. Im thinking about going up to pittsburgh thursday night to see what mine will run.

Actually my Regal is 3600lbs right now, it's a full weight car with nothing removed for lightening(street car). Last year before the new upgrades I installed in '11 the Buick was putting down 365whp and 601wftlbs with a 100shot on Rodeheavers Mustang dyno (255whp-460wftlbs all motor w boost) that was through a stock dying th350. If traction can be improved and I can launch with good power, those times are within grasp and repeatable. I can't wait to get to the track now but I have too, I'm just not prepared mostly financially to go just yet. Still want to hit up the July FLD's again and the local stuff.

Once again here is a shot of the Buick in lane at Father's day FLD's. Rolling on some 26-10/15 MT ET drags and my street tires up front.

And shortly after that and the problems it had, I fabbed a new mount for the Alt and all is good and top flight now.

^ ah Yes Dave I know, and they were doing the job they best they could while looking cool.

So I was greeted with a flat tire this morning as I went to get the Buick out of the garage, Stupid drywall screw in my brand new tire. Other than that, I've enjoyed every mile I've put on the turbo Buick this year and I've re-learned the threshold on running 93 pump gas on high boost with no alky and it's effect on the lack of traction for the street.

Default Latest update before track trip.

Ok so while on the quest to get the performance top-notch as it can get with what I have, Issues did arise with the latest addition of the Autometer Tach. The RPM's and power fall off right before and during 4500 rpm's and higher if I can get any more revs out of it. I know the stock cam is good for little more than that and I have Comp 980 valve springs but this problem was not similar to valve float. Last year on the Dyno @ Rodeheavers this same event was happening power was done around 4200 according to the dyno chart(lower than the stock cam's peak HP rpm of 5150-5200) So I thought: What is till stock?
Well turns out most of everything is including the ignition. I started there Since removing the ECM driven 7pin HEI module years ago and replacing it with an original 4 pin vintage Hei Module out of my '75 Buick 350. Knowing that the very early module's like mine are limited to operating at 4 -4.5-5 amps max. Ah ha! culprit: the Oem module is dropping off amps above 4000rpm's and killing the power and rev potential. It had too go although being a trooper in the 350 and the v6 it's time was now. So I do some research and purchase a PC Board style Procomp Pro Hei module rated with operating @ 7.5 amps like the MSD Heat and the Mallory Hyfire Hei modules. My very simple and basic EX-computer controlled dizzy will not accept the new module without some clearancing of the VR sensor shroud (yay it's aluminum). Ok the Procomp Hei module is now inside the Dizzy and I go to fire it up and it's like a new engine! Of course that's to be expected with any ignition upgrade. So how does it drive? It don't. Something is amiss in the Procomp Hei module, the engine is cutting out at 2000rpms and won't clean up. So now out comes the Procomp Pro hei module and it gets shelved. With little more research and an order later I've got an OEM style Pertronix Flame Thrower 4 pin Hei Race module and this one is rated for operating at 7.2 amps vs the original Flame Thrower 4 pin hei module that is rated at operating around 6 amps. The Pertronix 4 pin Hei module installs like the OEM 4 pin module only my Dizzy was made for a 7 pin hei module so it's not a direct bolt in. The VR sensor spade connectors are really small on the ECM controlled Dizzy vs the real 4 pin VR sensor spade connectors, so I split the male spade connectors on the Hei module so the narrow ECM version VR sensor spade connector slips positively on. I also bought a 50K volt in-cap Hei coil to compliment the new Hei module I just installed even though the coil is not here yet. So I light it up again with this Pertronix Hei module this time and it feels just like the power and response the Procomp Pro Hei was making but this module let the engine rev clean and well past 2000rpms where the Procomp Peetered out. A test drive reveals much snappier response and so far revving up too and beyond 4500 is not a problem now. So It's all been worth it soo far and I'm still running the OEM Hei in cap coil.
The pictures break down with the Procomp stuff first then the Pertronix stuff.

Well I just verified the ignition timing again and I found another contributor toward the problem. Timing started out near 20* probably 19* and when all the auto retarding was done with the revs brought up the last number was 12* when it quit retarding the timing and that is total timing under boost WOT. I sure remember it stopping 18* before but it's not right now. So I advanced the distributor and brought the revs up again to get the retarding to stop on 18-19* again now and at idle it's off the timing pointer but looks like 23-24* hell maybe even 25* to start now.

    Ok little update:
On the quest for less leaks and serviceability I'm replacing the entire trans cooler system. Requires two trans 1/4nspm to -6AN adapters, then using stainless jacketed Teflon -6AN hose (no rubber junk), and I have four 90* -6AN Teflon re-useable fittings.

Although I am currently running a decent stacked plate trans cooler, it only has hose barb nipple connections so it's being replaced with a Derale atomicool stacked plate trans cooler with 1/2" npt inlets and 1/2"to -6AN adapters. As for the old 12" PTC converter it's yanked and being replaced with a PTC 10" NONlocking converter that is 2800-3000 stall. I had the trans sent back to Extreme Automatics to be converted to NONlockup and add a manual transbrake! So with that going on I'm also replacing the rear diff with a G80 8.5" (3.42) rear axle from a turbo Buick.

Thanks everybody!, I'd like to make a trip back up to Tim's with the Buick for the upcoming Dyno day, we will see how that works, regardless I'll be there. And now I'll be more prepared to beat on the Buick for the flashlight drags and track days this year without worrying about breaking the stock axle. Just waiting to get the trans back from Extreme Automatics now.
